Impact Initiative

Our Team

 

The Impact Initiative will be co-led by two volunteers, Maryam Islam and Aleem Mir with the support of 5 other members of SOMA.

Maryam, with a background in psychology, has a knack for fostering connections and meaningful experiences, which compliments her involvement in family community work over the past few years. Aleem Mir, with a background in engineering, values the impact that positive influences have on individuals opportunities and perspectives early on in life. The team’s combined experience, relation to the current youth, and commitment to community development will leave the Impact Initiative to success in creating a safe and welcoming environment for young people.

Our mission

Achieve an established safe space and integrated presence for the youth community in Didcot. This community will foster an environment that attracts opportunities and a drive for personal development, building strong bonds, celebrating diversity and making a positive impact in the wider community.

Overview

The Impact Initiative is a six-month program designed to equip local youth aged between 15 – 25 years of age with essential skills and opportunities to make a significant impact in their community.

To truly bring our vision for the “Impact Initiative” to life, we plan to reach out to experienced industry professionals and subject experts from within our local community.

This cycle of learning, growth, and community contribution is at the heart of theSOMA Impact Initiative’s vision.

The Program

Each workshop will be complemented by a variety of social activities, such as sports, arts, social gatherings, and more…

Internship Opportunity

  • Practical application of these skills and to foster a sense of social responsibility – the end goal of this program will create opportunities of paid internships with local charities.
  • These internships, lasting between 1-2 weeks, provides interested individuals with the opportunity to contribute to the community directly.
