On 24th July, Soma Youth had the honour of participating as an exhibitor at a local youth festival focused on mental health, hosted by Didcot Train at the Cornerstone Theatre.
We are truly grateful to Mr. Ben Drable, CEO of Didcot Train, for inviting us and recognising the value of our work with young people in the community.
The event was aimed at local youth aged 10 to 20 and featured a wide range of interactive and educational activities. Soma Youth’s stall offered several engaging experiences, including:
- Henna art – our most popular activity of the day
- Try-on hijab station
- Spinning wheel challenge
- Qur’an on headphones
- Mental health survey
- World map reflections activity
These activities were inspired by the success of our Youth Impact Initiative, a 6-month programme designed to empower and build leadership within our youth group. The programme has cultivated a strong, committed team of young people who are now actively contributing to the wider Didcot community.
We look forward to more opportunities where our youth can lead, engage, and represent the local Muslim community with confidence and purpose.
